Venus Ebony Starr Williams was born in Lynwood, California, on June 17, 1980, to Oracene Price and Richard Williams. At the age of 10, she and her family moved to West Palm Beach so that both she and her sister, Serena Williams, could be a part of Rick Macci’s tennis academy. However, in the year 1995, her father pulled them out from the academy and took the responsibility to coach them at their own home.
Venus Williams is an American professional tennis player who, on March 1, 2014, was ranked as World No. 29 in singles. On February 25, 2002, she became the World No. 1 and the first American black woman to achieve such during the Open Era. With 22 overall Grand Slam titles, consisting seven in singles, thirteen in women’s doubles, and two in mixed doubles, she was highly credited for being a game-changer in women’s division, as she uses a modern way of power and athleticism in the world of tennis.
Tennis does contributes a lot to keep her in shape, but this professional tennis player also goes to the gym regularly, usually five to six times a week, for some muscle groups exercises. She does cardio workouts including bike riding, plyometrics, as well as field sprinting or interval training. She also emphasizes how she benefits from obtaining a good rest after a week’s workouts.
For her diet, Venus takes healthy foods into her body such as green juices and vegetables, which she considers as good sources of carbohydrates and proteins. She also loves to include truffle popcorn in her snack and see it as a low-fat food that she can munch on.
