Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, better known as Tom Hanks, is a well-known and highly respected American actor, producer, writer, and director. He was born on July 9, 1956 in Concord, California, USA. He dropped out of college when he met Vincent Dowling, the head of the Great Lakes Theater Festival in Ohio. He suggested Tom to become an intern at the Festival wherein he will work in the theater production as the one who will be in-charge for the lighting, stage management, and design. His experience at the theater led him to move to New York City to pursue his acting career. His first acting experience happened in the 1980 slasher film He Knows You’re Alone. He then had his role two years after in the Mazes and Monsters. In 1993, he won the Academy Award when he played a significant role in the film Philadelphia. Eventually, he went through different roles and started to work as a producer in the year 2000. His first movie as a producer and as an actor at the same time was in the adventure drama film Cast Away. Nowadays, the actor is filming the upcoming drama film A Hologram for the King.
Tom was recently diagnosed of having diabetes, but the actor take his condition a challenge each and everyday. Apart from medications, he managed to deal with diabetes by doing exercises in a daily basis to increase his energy for his daily activities.
He also makes conscious choices when it comes to food and focuses more on vegetables loaded with fiber, vitamins, and phytochemicals. Additionally, he stays away from caloric foods and foods with heavy carbs.
