Stefanie Maria Graf, better known as Steffi Graf, is a German professional tennis player known for being the former World No. 1 in tennis. She was born on June 14, 1961 in Mannheim, Baden-Württemberg, West Germany. She grew up with a passion for tennis because of how her father introduced her to the sport. In 1982, she joined her first ever professional tournament which was held at Stuttgart, Germany. Although she lost to Tracy Austin during their first round match, it didn’t give her the chance to let her hopes of becoming a successful tennis player down. She was 13 years old when she was ranked World No. 124. She then had her breakthrough in the year 1987 when she had six tournament wins which made her become qualified for the French Open. It was in the year 1990 when she became even more remarkable when she defeated Mary Joe Fernandez in the final of the Australian Open, giving her her eighth Grand Slam singles title. She had other series of competitions and her last participation was in the World Team Tennis Smash Hits exhibition in Washington, D.C. which was in the year 2010.
Because Steffi is known as a very athletic person thanks to her great involvement in tennis, she stays physically active. But according to her, being physically active is not enough in order to live a healthy life.
Diet is also important. When she was interviewed by Spryliving, she said that she lives healthily along with her husband and kids. What’s the healthy tip that we particularly get from her when it comes to building healthy habits at home, by the way? “Create an environment that makes healthy living routine. As soon as being healthy becomes an effort, kids will push back. Keeping healthy food in the house; making physical activity fun; making it a priority to eat as a family—all are critical to help kids learn healthy habits,” she advised.
