He was born on March 6, 1972 in Newark, New Jersey. He is a product of Louisiana State University. While in college, he played for the university’s basketball team under the guidance of the university’s basketball coach Dale Brown who he had met earlier in Europe. Soon after, his involvement in basketball came to a higher level when he became qualified for the NBA (National Basketball Association). Right after being drafted as the 1st overall pick, he played for the Orlando Magic in 1992. In 1996, he transferred to another team which was the Los Angeles Lakers. He spent 8 years playing for the Lakers, retiring in the year in 2004 and basically started another career which was to become a basketball analyst in the TV program Inside the NBA.

Apart from basketball, Shaq regularly spends time at the gym so as to maintain a healthy and strong body. His workout routine usually consists of bench presses, triceps pressdowns, military presses, abdominal holds, pullups, shrugs, medicine ball crunches, leg raises, oblique sit-ups, lunges, standing calf raises, squats, hyperextensions, reverse hypers, and leg curls.

For his diet, he usually consumes egg white omlette for breakfast, chicken breast and salad for lunch, fish for dinner, and a health bar for snack.
