Nicole Margaret Blonsky, famous for her stage name Nikki Blonksy, is an award-winning American actress, singer, and dancer. She was born on November 9, 1988 in Great Neck, New York, in Nassau County on Long Island. The daughter of Karen and Carl Blonsky, she started singing at the age of three and eventually took voice lessons when she reached eight. While she was in high school, she used to attend an after-school theater program at William A. Shine Great Neck South High School. The said school gave her the opportunity to take part in stage productions such as Sweeney Todd, Les Misérables, and Kiss Me, Kate. Prior to becoming famous, she first worked as a part-time hairstylist in Great Neck. It was in the year 2007 when she was hired to portray the role Tracy Turnblad in the musical film Hairspray. The said film earned her a number of nominations and awards which made her become a prominent actress and performer even up to these days.
Although Nikki is labeled as huge and plus-sized, the actress said that she is proud of it. She shared in one of her interviews, “I’m just comfortable and confident in my body. I could care less that the world is seeing my bathing suit right now.”
She added, “I play a character called Willhemina. She’s awesome, she’s totally against the grain. She doesn’t want to lose weight. She thinks fitness camp is stupid and that’s why I love her, because she doesn’t want to do anything that camp wants her to do.”
