Mary McDonough - CelebHealthy_comMary Elizabeth McDonough was born on May 4, 1961. She is an American actress famous for her role Erin Walton on the TV series The Waltons from 1971 to 1981. She started her acting career in 1971, particularly portraying a role on The Homecoming: A Christmas Story by which she acted as Erin Esther Walton. The same year, she experienced her breakthrough when she was hired to portray a major role on The Waltons, playing the same role Erin Esther Walton. In 1978, she appeared and was highlighted on CBS: On the Air. She also participated the Family Feud  in the year 1979. She had a lot of appearances on screen, and lately, around 2006, she appeared on The New Adventures of Old Christine.

Mary was diagnosed with Lupus and she was able to manage it through a combination of medicine and healthy lifestyle. “Acupuncture has helped me manage the pain, and Yoga keeps me flexible,” she shared in one of her interviews. “Being physically active also helps to fight the fatigue associated with symptoms of lupus, so I try to work out daily on an elliptical machine and treadmill.”

In addition, she made changes on her diet practices. “I’ve also learned that certain foods can make my symptoms worse, so I avoid alfalfa sprouts and bell peppers, and eat a primarily gluten-free diet, since that reduces the symptoms of lupus,” she explained.
