Mark Stephen Skaife OAM is an Australian motor racing driver. He was born on April 3, 1967 in Australia. A five time champion of the V8 Supercar Championship Series, including its predecessor the Australian Touring Car Championship, he is known to be the son of son of touring car racer, Russell Skaife. It was in the 1980s when he started his racing karts. His first car race was at Amaroo Park in the year 1984 at the wheel of a Holden Torana XU-1 sports sedan.
In 1987, he was recruited by recruited by Fred Gibson. A year later, he made his Australian Touring Car Championship, driving the team’s third turbocharged Nissan Skyline HR31 GTS-R in the final round at Oran Park. After his retirement, he paired up with Greg Murphy at Sprint Gas Racing for the 2009 enduros.
When Mark was asked in one of his interviews about his training routine, he said, “I still use the same trainer I used throughout my career. I want to maintain my fitness even if I’m not in the car all the time.” Wow, his enthusiasm towards fitness is really an admirable trait. Keep it up, Mark!
