Mariya Koroleva is an American synchronized swimmer. She was born on April 10, 1990 in Yaroslavl, Russia to parents Svetlana Koroleva and Nikolay Koroleva. A product of Stanford University, she is known as a member of the teams that won silver medals in the duet and team competitions at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. These days, she continues to be better in the sports field she chosen.
Mariya is apparently in a fit and great shape. Any fitness and health tips from her? “For me, it’s all about taking action,” she said. “You are in charge of your own body. Being on a healthy diet and exercise plan will boost your confidence and give you more motivation to keep going. There are tons of options for finding the right plan that works for you, all you have to do is take the first step and take action!”
She added, “Ultimately, your health is the most important thing you have. It is possible to look good, feel good, and be healthy at the same time. In my sport, it is not uncommon to be told that you need to lose weight or to have your coach look at your thighs judgmentally and shake her head. There is a lot of pressure to look a certain way, but if I didn’t stick to a healthy diet plan, I would not get the nutrients I need to train the way I want. It is extremely important to watch what you put in your body and to really take care of yourself, whether or not you are an athlete. I have learned this lesson through synchro and I know that I will continue my healthy eating even when my swimming days are over.”
