Leisel Jones - celebhealthy_comLeisel Marie Jones, OAM is an Australian former competition swimmer and Olympic gold medallist. She was born on August 30, 1985 in Katherine, Australia. A participant in the 2000 Summer Olympics and 2004 Summer Olympics, she was fifteen years old when she won the Australian team in the women’s 4 × 100 metre medley relay at the Athens Games in 2004. Apart from that, she also became the gold medalist for 100 meter breaststroke in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

So what is Leisel’s training like? “As an Olympic swimmer, I train six days a week and average about 11 sessions a week, but the intensity changes depending on where I am at in my competition cycle,” she shared when she interviewed by Body and Soul Australia. “Some stages require a focus on endurance and fitness, while others are about technique, strength or flexibility. In a normal week I do six to eight swimming sessions, plus yoga, running, weights, boxing, cross training and Pilates. If I get time off after a swim meet I try to maintain some level of fi tness, otherwise it hurts twice as much when I get back into it.”

Now when it comes to diet, here’s what she said: “Breakfast is usually fruit, yogurt and muesli. For lunch I have steamed chicken and salad. Dinner is usually steamed vegetables, brown rice and fish or chicken. For snacks I have fruit or organic muesli bars. In winter, after a 5am swim, I tuck into a hot chocolate.”
