Jennifer Kent is an Australian actress, writer, and director. She is popular for her debut feature The Babadook. She started her career as an actress, working primarily in television. The main cast member of Murder Call, she appeared in 31 episodes of the series. She was also highlighted in several episodes of other Australian TV series such as All Saints, Police Rescue, and Above the Law. She also had a minor role on Babe: Pig in the City.
Jennifer is known to be a vegan. According to her, it started off in the year 2002 when she paid more attention to animals. She said in an interview, “The farm animals who have it the worst, in terms of how they’re cared for, are egg-laying hens and dairy producing cows. That’s when I realized I had to become vegan to help animals and not support the animal industry.”
She added, “When I went from vegetarian to vegan I thought it was pretty easy. At that point there was a huge online community of people supporting me, linking recipes, and recommending cookbooks. When I went vegetarian, I did it on my own. Going vegetarian, the hardest part was learning a whole new way to eat; it felt restrictive. But when I went vegan it opened up my world to new and better ways to eat.”
