Janel Meilani Parrish, born on October 30, 1988 in Oahu, Hawaii, USA, is an American actress, singer, and songwriter. She is famous for her role as Mona Vanderwaal in the popular teen drama TV series Pretty Little Liars. She started to be known in Hawaii after joining series of local talent competitions. Her first acting and singing exposure happened when she was chosen to play the role “Young Cosette” in Les Misérables. After that, she was seen on different theatre plays and productions, making her skills in acting and singing fully emphasized. In 1999, she was featured in the TV movie Too Rich: The Secret Life of Doris Duke and was also cast for a guest role in two episodes in the action drama series Baywatch. Series of acting opportunities came to her afterwards, including her appearances in films Bratz: The Movie, April Showers, and Celeste and Jesse Forever. Her big break came in 2007 when she was cast for the role Mona Vanderwaal in Pretty Little Liars where she works with co-stars Lucy Hale, Sasha Pieterse, Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, and Shay Mitchell.

To come up with a fit and slim figure, she constantly keeps her body moving by going to the gym and performing various trainings. Her parents are both bodybuilders–probably the reason why she’s very much enthusiastic about getting fit. Aside from going to the gym, she also finds time hiking and performing Cardio Barre.

For her diet, she’s not much of a fan of it. She just tries to keep everything in minimal. In one of her interviews, she shared that she can’t keep herself from eating Kozo Sushi.
