James Hugh Calum Laurie, better known as Hugh Laurie, is an English actor, voice actor, director, writer, singer, musician, and comedian. He was born on June 11, 1959 in Oxford, Oxfordshire, South East England. He is famous for his role as Dr. Gregory House on the popular medical TV series House. A product of Dragon School when he was still in his childhood days, Hugh also attended school at Eton. He began to develop an enthusiasm in acting and performing when he joined the Cambridge Footlights dramatic club while he was in college. In 1984, he officially started his career in show business by appearing on big screen for the first time, particularly playing the role Lord Monty on the British sitcom The Young Ones. He also had significant appearances on Jeeves and Wooster from 1990 to 1993. And of course, he became notable for his signature appearances on House which was aired on television from 2004 to 2012.
In real life, Hugh is also one health-conscious man. In fact, he regularly keeps his body working by jogging and visiting the gym, doing boxing and sparring along with his fitness instructor.
One thing that he also learned while being the ‘Dr. House’ is the importance of eating healthy foods. And his advice? “Eat more green vegetables.”
