American actress, comedian, producer, and author Delta Ramona Leah Burke was born on July 30, 1956 in Orlando, Florida. She finished high school from Colonial High School in the year 1974. Prior to fame, she joined the Miss Florida beauty pageant and won in 1974. Afterwards, she decided to pursue a career in show business. It was in the year 1978 when she landed her first role on screen, playing the uncredited role Terri on the flick Zuma Beach. The following year, she made appearances on A Last Cry for Help, The Chisholms, and The Seekers. Later on, she gained further dominance by playing major roles on TV series Filthy Rich, The Love Boat, 1st & Ten, Designing Women, Delta, Any Day Now, Popular, Boston Legal, and many others.

Delta, once diagnosed with Diabetes, was able to manage her condition through lifestyle modification. According to her, walking every day is one way of controlling sugar level and she considers it her main exercise regimen. “My main exercise is walking with my husband,” she told DiabetesMine. “He was diagnosed with lung cancer three years ago, and he’s trying to get his strength back. I used be a dancer, so I sometimes still do a ballet workout now and then.”

She also added that she’s making healthy diet part of her system. “Essentially, I try to focus on the proteins and vegetables — although I’m not very good at the veggies. My mother lives with us, and actually does most of the cooking, so she keeps an eye on me.”
