Claire Hooper is an Australian stand-up comedian and writer. She was born on September 5, 1976 in Perth, Australia. A product of Curtin University, she appeared as a team captain on the 2008 revival of Good News Week on Network Ten and previously was a regular on The Sideshow, appearing with Paul McDermott. It was in the year 2004 when she won the Western Australian finals of Triple J’s Raw Comedy. In 2005, she was also chosen to perform in “The Comedy Zone” for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and was awarded “Best and Fairest” at the National Improvisation Championships in Sydney.
According to Claire in one of her interviews, she exercises at least four times a week. She said, “I try to exercise four times a week. I used to jog, but I’m starting to replace running with yoga. I feel like I shake everything out of alignment when I pound the pavement these days. Am I getting old?”
As for her diet, she explained, “A healthy diet is important for keeping my energy levels up during the morning radio shifts on Sydney’s Mix 106.5 and the long Good News Week tapings. I’m ready to admit, with a heavy heart, that sugar and caffeine are my frenemies and I don’t answer their texts anymore. I start my breakfast radio shift with rooibos tea, porridge with crushed nuts – but no milk or sugar – and a piece of fruit. After that, I lose track. I’ll struggle to find lunch and eat something random, like half a packet of vegie sausages. I might have a vegie stir-fry or fish for dinner. My favourite indulgences are sugar-free dark chocolate, fruit or smoothies. Although, I’d rather be eating Pringles. Am I healthy? No, but I’m getting there.”
