She also participated on the Australian Open where she was able to defeat Gisela Dulko for the 21st seed. She also fought Elena Vesnina in Auckland but unfortunately lost during the quarterfinals. She was able to bring success back when she became the first seed of the 2010 e-Boks Danish Open. In 2012, she represented her country at the Hopman Cup together with Frederik Nielsen. She was also matched with Maria Sharapova in Indian Wells and ended up as runner-up.
Naturally an athletic person, Caroline stays physically active by doing various exercises apart from playing tennis. In one of her interviews, she revealed, “I do a lot of stretching, running, sprints, stair-climbing and sometimes swimming or yoga, but my favorite cross-training workout is boxing. It improves my footwork, stamina, strength and concentration, plus it’s a lot of fun. I got punched right on the nose once, but I didn’t really mind, because it’s part of the training.”
And what about her diet? “I don’t really change my diet between training and competing,” she said. “I make sure my diet contains protein, lots of vegetables and fruit, smoothies and white meat. I try to treat my body right, so that I can rely on it in the third hour of a long match.”
