Elizabeth Kimberly Tweddle MBE, better known as Beth Twedlle, is a retired British artistic gymnast. She was born on April 1, 1985 in South Africa to parents Ann Tweddle and Jerry Tweddle. She is known as the most successful British gymnast the history of the sport. A three-time Olympian and the 2012 Olympic bronze medalist on uneven bars, she made her career successful over the years. She retired in August 2013 and soon after delved into a variety of media and sporting work.
Beth was interviewed by Sport Sister and was asked about her typical training. Here’s what she revealed: “I train very day except Sunday, and at the moment I split my training between the National Centre where the team is based and back at home in the city of Liverpool with my coach Amanda. I usually do six hours a day, except Thursday where it is about 4 hours. It’s mainly just routines, routines and routines, over and over again. And at the beginning and end of each session I do strength work too.”
When it comes to diet, she said, “I don’t really have a set diet; I just try to keep it healthy. When we are at the National Centre the food is all provided for us and so I just try and follow the same kind of meals when I am on my own. On a competition day we don’t have anything specific, it just depends what time the competition is. In Beijing we are in the early afternoon so I will probably just have breakfast and then a light snack beforehand as I don’t like to eat too much because I am too nervous.”
