Anoushka Shankar - CelebHealthy_comAnoushka Shankar is a Bengali- Tamil sitar player and composer. She was born on June 9, 1981 in London to parents Ravi Shankar and Sukanya Shankar. She is on the other hand, known as the half-sister of the singer Norah Jones. Born to a Bengali, Hindu, and Tamil family, the talented musician grew up in between London and Delhi. She started learning how to play sitar when she was a child, particularly when she was seven years old. She was specifically trained by her father on the said instrument. In 1998, she successfully became an artist when she released her debut album she named Anoushka. She later on published another album in 2000 called Anourag. Other than becoming a recording artist, she also took part on some of the films in India. Presently, she stays famous by appearing on certain concerts and shows.

When asked about her typical workout routine in one of her interviews, she said, “At the moment I’m focusing on Pilates and spinning classes after years of doing Yoga– which I still do but it’s more for stretching and relaxation. I find Pilates effective for toning and spinning great for cardio, so together they make a good all-round workout. I do occasionally have private personal training sessions but I mainly do group classes as I find the energy of a class really motivating.”

Now what’s her diet like? “I feel much better when I don’t eat wheat and dairy, so I try to avoid it as much as possible,” she explained. “I always drink lots of water, eat loads of veggies, and love having good green juices when I can. I start my day with a mug of warm water with lemon. Then I have porridge or muesli with fruit and yoghurt, or eggs with avocado or capsicum. Lunch is generally gluten-free pasta with veggies and sheep’s cheese, or brown rice and dal, and dinner is primarily a salad of dark leaves, tomatoes, beetroot, and a protein. For dessert, I like rich dark chocolate or really thick creamy fruit yoghurt with berries. I take omega 3,6, and 9, calcium, and iron supplements just because I always have and I know they are good for me.”
