America Georgine Ferrera is an American actress, born on April 18, 1984 in Los Angeles, California. She is the youngest among the children of América Griselda Ayes and Carlos Gregorio Ferrera. She is best known as Betty Suarez in ABC’s television series “Ugly Betty” in the year 2006 up to 2010, where she received various awards and recognitions. She portrayed the role of Carmen Lowell in “The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants” (2005) and its sequel in the year 2008. She was also the voice behind the character of Astrid Hofferson in “How to Train Your Dragon” (2010); its second and third sequel; as well as its corresponding television series “Dragons: Riders of Berk”. In addition, she also hosted “Independent Lens” in the years 2002-2008, 2010-2011; and appeared in some episodes of other television series.
America admitted that she tried almost every diet and later realized that it is more important to maintain a harmonious and normal relationship between food and exercise to feel good and natural. She does yoga, hiking, and running in order to stay healthy and combat stress, especially that which is work-related.
