Alicia Keys was born by the name of Alicia Augello Cook in New York, New York on January 25, 1981. She was solely raised by her mother, Nikki Augello, who was a part-time actress and paralegal. Keys started playing piano at the age of & and it was her mom’s insistence that she attend Manhattan’s prestigious Professional Performance Arts School where she majored in choir. With her debut album Songs in A Minor, Keys burst onto the music charts in 2001.
With her 10 years experience in the music industry, Keys maintain her good health by having a regular workout regimen. She even goes to celebrity trainer Harley Pasternak who happens to be the author of 5-Factor Fitness to keep her body in good shape. Key’s hard work in hitting the gym paid off when she filmed the song “Put in a Love Song” together with Beyonce wherein they had to wear Carnival-inspired costumes.
In one of her interviews, Alicia shares that she prefers eating foods that gives her good feeling afterward. No wonder she chooses to consume healthier foods such as grilled fish, spinach and almond milk. Furthermore, Keys also has the habit of including aloe vera in her juices. She believes that by doing this, she’s able to get her body back on track so all her hard works are definitely worth the experience.
