Alan Wolf Arkin is an American actor, director, singer, writer, and musician. He was born on March 26, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York City to parents David I. Arkin and Beatrice Wortis. Growing up under the care of a Jewish family, he began taking acting lessons at the tender age of 10. Years later, he was cast for an uncredited role on the 1957 film Calypso Heat Wave. He soon had his breakthrough when he was cast on The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming and won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. After years of acting, he decided to pursue the higher level of career in the industry which is directing. His first ever film by which he worked as a director was the children’s film People Soup in 1969. He soon developed a passion for writing and particularly published children’s books while continuing his work in show business.
You see, he’s 80 years old but he’s still proudly kicking. What’s his health secret? Well, according to the veteran actor, his one way of keeping his body healthy is by avoiding stress. In one of his interviews, he said, “It seems to me that the major part of the equation for hanging on to our sanity and our well-being is to try to find ways of keeping ourselves as stress-free as possible – which in this civilization right now is very, very hard to do.”
In addition, he carefully watches what he eats and always makes it a point to eat foods with less amount of carbohydrates as possible– although he admitted that it wasn’t easy for him at first. But then again, looks like he’s really enjoying the benefits of his healthy lifestyle.
