American model-turned-actress and singer Tika Sumpter was born on June 20, 1980 in Queens, New York, USA. She is especially known for her role as Raina Thorpe in an American teen drama TV film Gossip Girl. Prior to fame, Tika used to be working as a commercial model for Curve fragrances. It was in 2004 when she started to make a name when she became a co-host for the N Network series Best Friend’s Date. After a year, she was given a break when she was cast as Layla Williamson on One Life to Live. She had her breakthrough in 2011 when she was included as one of the casts for the movie Sparkle where she worked with famous singers Whitney Houston, Jordin Sparks, and Carmen Ejogo. Later that year, she became even more prominent for her appearances in Gossip Girl.
Nowadays, Tika maintains her incredible bod by constantly doing her workout routine. Lately the actress is known to be indulging in a Pure Barre class. Now, what is it all about? According to Tika, “I heard about Pure Barre, went to a class and thought, ‘Wow, this is the hardest workout I’ve ever done. You’re exerting all this energy, but it’s small isolated movements. After the third time going, I saw differences in my body.”
Apart from Pure Barre, the singer is also noted to be attending Zumba classes to lift her mood and ease her stress. What she says about Zumba: “If I’m going to be healthy and feel good, it’s nice that it’s esthetically pleasing as well.”
Regarding her diet, she says she’s very well determined to eat healthy foods. “I try my best to eat well, it’s super hard for me sometimes, to be perfectly honest. I do make a strawberry, banana, and blueberry smoothie in the morning with rice milk. I cook at home a lot–that mostly insures I know exactly what I’m eating. I drink water every day as well,” she confides.
