Susanna Lee Hoffs, born on January 17, 1959 in Los Angeles, California, is an American vocalist, instrumentalist, and actress best known as one of the members of the band “The Bangles”. The daughter of Tamar Ruth and Joshua Allen Hoffs, she came from a Jewish family. Soon after graduating from the University of California, Berkeley, she joined musicians Vicki Peterson and Debbi Peterson and decided to form a pop band they called “The Bangles”. Together, they released their debut album called All Over the Place in the year 1984 under Columbia Records and were able to bring their single “Hero Takes a Fall” into a hit. In 1986, their breakthrough came and they were able to release another album which was called Different Light. It was in 1991 when she published her solo album called When You’re a Boy and made her single “My Side of the Bed” become a Top 40 hit in the US chart. She is, by the way, happily married to a director named Jay Roach and they were blessed with two sons.
These days, Susanna still looks pretty young. What’s her secret? Well, here’s what she said in one of her interviews: “I think it’s both mental and physical to some extent, having a routine where you just have as much as a healthy lifestyle as you can stand. I started young with the feeling of being connected to my body and the love of movement and exercise. When I was growing up, it was either horseback riding or you were into ballet, and I was doing ballet. I think it set me up to a lifelong addiction to being fit.”
She also said that whenever she eats, her mind is always focused on it. “I don’t ever eat in front of the TV,” she confided. “I don’t multitask when I eat. I focus on the food, so you don’t need as much and maybe you enjoy it more.” Well, those tips seem really helpful and really worked for her.
