She was born on June 9, 1978 in Florissant, Missouri, United States to parents Patrick Finnessey and Linda Finnessey. She is well-recognized for winning the Miss USA title. In 2002, she joined the Miss Miss Missouri beauty pageant and won the crown. It led her to compete the Miss American where she won the preliminary award. In 2004, she joined the Miss Universe and represented USA. She finished the first runner-up place in the said pageant.

In one of her interviews, Shandi shares her typical diet to stay healthy and fit after all these days. She said she usually eats vegetables, and her favorite is Kale. “Kale, I think, is the go-to vegetable,” said Shandi. “A lot of people don’t like it because it’s so rubbery in texture, but there are ways to work around it. I actually eat kale for breakfast, which people think I’m crazy but it’s really great if you saute it for a few minutes or steam it because it’s more palatable. It will literally make your skin glow.”

She said she also loves quinoa. She explained,”It’s a complete protein and it’s an easily digestible protein that our body recognizes, but the best thing about quinoa is its versatility. Eat it for breakfast like oatmeal or in place of rice or pasta at dinner. It’s a great staple to go to at all times. You can just throw in veggies, there are so many things you can do with it.” Other than, she is a fan of ginger tea. “Ginger is really good to aid with digestion,” she said. “So, a cup of ginger tea after finishing eating just helps to soothe your stomach, aides in digestion, and it’s very comforting.”
