Sandra Denton, otherwise known as “Pepa”, is an American hip-hop artist and actress. She was born on November 9, 1969 in Kingston, Jamaica. When she was still a child, she and her family relocated to Queens, New York. She started to get noticed when she collaborated with her school mate and friend Cheryl James in forming a hip-hop and rap duo which is called “Salt-N-Pepa“. The duo eventually became one of the successful hip-hop groups in the 80’s and 90’s, especially when their track “Push It” became a huge hit in the music chart. Together with Cheryl, they were able to publish series of albums, including their fourth album Very Necessary which was published in 1993. Other than performing, she also had film and TV appearances which include the 1993 comedy flick Who’s the Man?.
When Sandra was asked by Huffington Post about how she stays fit these days, she answered, “I’m trying to create a “Push It” workout line. So, I’ve been training. And I’m trying to fit the part, not just do it because I can.”
And when it comes to her diet, she revealed, “I’m on a diet now, but I love vanilla ice cream, hot fudge with the nuts on top. That’s my downfall. I’ve changed my eating habits. It’s hard but I feel better, lighter, more energy. I’ve seen the results, but dieting is hard and working out is hard. I envy the people who love it.” Well, we believe you can do it, Pepa!
