Sandra Bernhard is an American comedian, singer, actress, and author. She was born on June 6, 1955 in Flint, Michigan. The daughter of Jeanette and Jerome Bernhard, she started to act in the year 1980 when she was cast on the film Shogun Assassin. In 1981, she again appeared on screen, playing a minor role on the film Cheech & Chong’s Nice Dreams. Soon after, she got lots of acting jobs which include roles on Sesame Street Presents: Follow that Bird, Without You I’m Nothing, Unzipped, An Alan Smithee Film: Burn Hollywood Burn, I Woke Up Early the Day I Died, Playing Mona Lisa, Zoolander, Dare, and a lot more.
So how does the actress stay in great shape even at the age of 59? “It’s a combination,” she told Austin Monthly. “I was born very thin. I wasn’t even 120 pounds until I was in my 20s. My body fat was always super low. In the past 15 years, since I got pregnant and had my baby, I’ve gained weight. I work out with my trainer twice a week. I try to work out on my own twice a week. I’m getting back into gyrotonics, a sister of Pilates, because I do a lot of weights, squats, crunches. It tightens up your body so I need to elongate again.”
And when it comes to her diet, she revealed, “My diet is close to impeccable. I do have a little bit of a sweet tooth, but we eat only organic, farm-to-table, a lot of small meals throughout the day. Just really try to get a lot of sleep and I don’t drink.”
For her, lifestyle balance is really important. “I think it’s a balance of all those things: movement, keeping active and being happy,” she expressed.
