He was born on August 3, 1984 in Rochester, New York to parents Ileana and Steven R. Lochte. One with Cuban and German ancestry, he graduated from Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Florida in the year 2002 and eventually finished college from University of Florida in the year 2007. After rewarded a second place next to Michael Pelps, he qualified for his first Olympics. He became a sensation when he joined the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens as well as in the 2004 FINA Short Course World Championships in Indianapolis. In 2005, he earned bronze medals when he joined the World Aquatics Championships in Montreal and competed for the  200-meter backstroke and 200-meter individual medley. He also earned six medals at the 2011 World Aquatics Championships and also made an amazing record during the 2013 World Aquatics Championships which was held in Barcelona.

Swimming is Ryan’s ultimate workout. But of course, that’s not enough for him. He also sees to it that he is in a tiptop shape by following a strict diet. And his diet secret? Protein and lots of protein!
