Roberto Martínez Montoliú, better known as Roberto Martinez, is a Spanish former footballer who is now the manager of Everton Football Club. He was born on the 13th of July 1973 in Balaguer, Spain. When he was nine, he started his career in his hometown club CF Balaguer in the Spanish Third Division. By then, he played for various football competitions and eventually moved to Real, Zaragoza when he was 16 years old. In 1991, he became part of the Real Zaragoza B team.
Two years after, he made his debut for his first team on La Liga between the 1992-1993 season. It was in the year 2007 when he was able to work for Swansea City where he eventually resigned on the 15th of June 2009. The same date, he was declared as the head coach of Wigan Athletic. He worked with the said team until 2013. Presently, he works as a manager for Everton.
One with an athletic built even at the age of 40, Roberto stays fit by being physically active and doing exercises. When it comes to diet, he said he consumes food rich in carbs especially during the evening. According to him, carbs are useful especially when you’re thinking at night. “You need carbs if you want to think at night. I prefer to think at night,” he explained. “Try carbs and try thinking at night and try it without carbs, and you’ll feel tired and you won’t see it. When you need to be mentally active, you need carbs. Diet is very important.”
