She was born on September 26, 1948 in Cambridge, England to parents Brinley Newton-John and Irene Helene. She started to sing when she was a teenager. In 1960s, she decided to move to England to work for clubs and later, on television. It was in the year 1978 when her name became  a huge hit after she successfully made an appearance as a lead role in the Broadway musical Grease. It made her become an international artist. In 1992, her life took a dramatic turn when she was diagnosed with breast cancer and was battling with the said disorder. When she survived her grueling condition, she recorded songs and donated an amount from the proceeds to cancer research. Nowadays she continues to inspire people with her beautiful songs and humanitarian endeavors.

Since she survived cancer, she became more and more conscious when it comes to her health. Her secret, of course, is maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Most especially, a good diet. According to her in one of her interviews, she avoids eating corn and wheat. What she basically consumes are fresh fruits and vegetables as well as rye bread.

Moreover, she does Yoga and regularly meditates. It’s one way of her making her feel relaxed, apart from the fact that it’s a great workout, too.
