Olga Valentinovna Korbut, otherwise known as the “Sparrow from Minsk”, is a former Belarusian gymnast. She was born on May 16, 1955 in Grodno, Belarus. Throughout her career, she was able to win four gold medals and two silver medals at the Summer Olympic Games. She competed the said Olympics in the year 1972 and 1976, representing the Soviet team. She began practicing gymnastics at a tender age of eight. During that time, she joined a Belarusian sports school and was coached by coach Renald Knysh. In 1964, she was trained by the Olympic gold medalist Elena Volchetskaya. It was in 1972 when she started to be prominent in the gymnastics world due to her acrobatics and open high-level gymnastics.
In one of Olga’s interviews, she shared how she lived her a very active life when she was still younger and was doing gymnastics. She said, “I trained for 10 years, up to 10 hours a day for the 1972 Olympics. My elements required that much practice.”
When it comes to diet, she revealed that she mostly eats foods that do not have sugar. She also eats plenty of veggies and foods loaded with protein.
