A product of De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, she is the daughter of Maria Fe Medina and Maximo Guillermo Medina. She started to earn attention when she joined and won the Binibining Pilipinas – Universe title in 2016. In 2017, she represented the Philippines in the prestigious international beauty pageant Miss Universe 2016 wherein she finished Top 6.
Maxine worked out hard prior to joining the Miss Universe. In fact, she trained with fitness trainer John Cuay. According to John in an interview with InterAksyon, “You should have eight hours of sleep; proper exercise, focus on your core because that’s the foundation of your body.”
He also emphasized the importance of diet. “You should have the proper nutrition: 1. Eat complex carbohydrates, avoid dining out, don’t eat junk food,” he said. “2. Eat lean protein because you need it to build your muscles. And, number 3, opt for healthy fats. If you don’t do the three, it’s not going to happen. You won’t be able to achieve your perfect body.” These are the reasons why Maxine really stood out during the competition. Her body is totally fab!
