Matthew Rhys Evans, popularly known as Matthew Rhys, is a Welsh actor. He was born on November 8, 1974 in Cardiff, United Kingdom to parents Helen Evans and Glyn Evans. Before he appeared on screen, he first started off as a stage actor, particularly appearing on the stage play Cardiff East wherein he acted the role Tommy. He became prominent when he was cast on the TV series Brothers & Sisters from 2006 to 2011 and played the role Kevin Walker. Nowadays, he is known for his role Philip Jennings on the TV series The Americans.
According to Matthew, martial arts did help him get fitter. In an interview, he expressed, “I did a lot of martial arts training. For a month I was doing kick-boxing, jiujitsu, and Krav Maga. But I was sparring a bit with the kick boxing and took some knocks to my knees.”
And when it comes to his nutrition, he said he had to limit himself to calorie-rich foods. “I had to eat porridge and sweet potato and no carbs in the evenings,” he said. “I stuck to it for about two-and-a-half days. Every food that’s bad for you was calling out my name.” But despite that fact, he admitted that he also craves guilty-pleasure foods and he’s a 100% foodie!
