Kelly Holmes - celebhealthy_comDame Kelly Holmes, MBE, DBE is a retired British middle distance athlete. She was born on April 19, 1970 in Pembury, United Kingdom. The daughter of Derrick Holmes and Pam Norman, she is known to be an expert in the 800 metres and 1500 metres events, particularly winning a gold medal for both distances at the Summer Olympics in Athens in the year 2004. In 2005, she also became prominent for winning the Laureus World Sports Award for Sportswoman of the Year.

A runner herself, it is not a surprise why she stays fit. She shared some tips for her fans regarding running in one of her interviews and here’s what she explained: “Running outside you are a lot freer and can go with your own pace, slow down and speed up when you need to. The treadmill dictates your work out in terms that the ground is moving away from you as opposed to you moving away from the ground. Put the treadmill up by about 0.2% as this is roughly the same as when you go on roads as the ground isn’t necessarily flat. Also different terrains are more impactful on the legs vs the treadmill which has a bit more slack.”

Now what’s her diet like? “I have a balanced eating lifestyle– I don’t neglect food,” said Kelly. “I know the foods that are good for me like fruit, veg and carbs. I know it’s ok to have the odd bad thing like chocolate. If you neglect it you’ll crave it. If you cut it out you don’t have an even balanced lifestyle.”
