Australian athlete Kelly Cartwright was born on April 22, 1989. The unique and awe-inspiring thing about her is that she was diagnosed with a form of cancer called synovial sarcoma when she was fifteen years old. The condition required her legs to be amputated due to the fact that she can’t choose to have a chemotherapy. That resulted to her wearing of a prosthetic leg when she was in high school. Years later, she was qualified to be a T42 runner and worked together with a coach named Tim Matthews. It was in 2008 when she was granted with a scholarship with the Australian Institute of Sport and since then, she became a very competent athlete.
So what’s her secret for a healthier body? Well, she’s more into healthy foods. Here’s what she revealed in one of her interviews: “Eating the right balance of food needs to be one of your main focuses as an athlete. And it’s not just about eating healthily– it’s about eating the right foods at the right time.”
She also said that she indulges in a protein shake with fruits after working out. “I like to finish a weights session with a protein shake and a banana or apple,” said Kelly.
