She is the daughter of Asha Ranaut and Amardeep Ranaut. Growing up rebellious, she developed a penchant for acting–the reason why she accepted an acting opportunity when it came to her in the year 2006. She started to appear on screen when she was cast in the 2006 film Gangster where she played the role Simran. The said film gave her the opportunity to work with actors Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. Her first appearance was noted to be impressive which is why she was granted with more acting appearances including in films Shakalaka Boom Boom, Dhaam Dhoom, Ek Niranjan, No Problem, Double Dhamaal, Shootout at Wadala, and Queen. And because she turned out to be a really efficient actress, she garnered several awards and recognitions such as Global Indian Film Awards – Best Actress, International Indian Film Academy Awards – Best Actress, Star Guild Awards – Best Actress in Leading Role, and many others.

Kangana stays fit by doing regular exercises that are quite vigorous. She said she works really hard to attain bodily curves. Five times a week, she is seen visiting the gym, focusing on workouts that improve different parts of her body.

For her diet, she mostly consumes veggies, oatmeal, protein shake, tofu, grilled chicken, eggs, porridge, etc. She also makes it a point to get rid of foods that are loaded with sugar contents and foods that are processed.
