The daughter of Wah Chu, she plays the position of forward on the United States women’s ice hockey team and the position of defense on the Montreal Stars. She started playing for the Minnesota Whitecaps of the WWHL in the year 2007. The same year, she won the Patty Kazmaier Award for best female collegiate hockey player while she was studying at Harvard University. Her career in the chosen sport became more successful when she was selected by fellow Team USA members to lead as flag bearer in the 2014 U.S. Olympic Team into Sunday’s Closing Ceremony.

In one of her interviews, Julie shared about her and her teammates’ fitness routine and here’s what she revealed: “We spend a lot of time practicing and training off the ice. In season, we lift three days a week, and four days during the off-season. For me, any group workout is really great. Especially for people who don’t have teammates, it’s helpful to workout with others for motivation.”

She added, “You push yourself a little harder. We do circuit workouts as a team that include everything from straight lifts, explosive exercises like jumping and otherplyometrics, and of course strength training moves like squatting and benching. We change it up a lot, which is important to keep workouts original and fresh.”
