She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from the InterAmerican University of Puerto Rico and is a holder of Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She pursued modeling right after graduating in college and immediately flew to New York City and signed with the Elite Model Management in 2007. After two years of working with the Elite Model, she decided to leave the agency and sign with the IMG Models. Since then, she was seen in major fashion shows for various designers and was gracing in different runways in Paris, London, New York, and Milan. Some of the brands that she was able to endorse were Chanel, Cop-Copine, Estée Lauder, Givenchy eyewear, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Stella McCartney, and Neiman Marcus.

Joan has been working out with her fitness trainer Marc Gordon for over four years. She is known to be having a Scoliosis, an abnormal curvature of the spine, that’s why she is encouraged to do regular exercises. Her routine mostly consists of cardio exercises like running and jogging as well as strength training.
