Born on November 30, 1971 in Montreal, Quebec, Jessalyn Sarah Gilsig, is a Canadian actress famous for her roles in a number of TV series and films. The daughter of Claire and Toby Gilsig, she started to act at a tender age of 12. Later on, she worked as a voice actress, particularly lending her voice to films The Journey Home and TV series Gulliver’s Travels, Young Robin Hood, and The Little Flying Bears. In 1995, she relocated to New York City and participated some Broadway plays. It was in the year 2000 when she was given a break and was cast on the TV series Boston Public, playing the role Lauren Davis. She then portrayed a role on Nip/Tuck from 2003 to 2008 as well as on Imaginary Bitches from 2008 to 2009. In 2009, she became part of the popular musical series Glee, playing the role Terri Schuester. Presently, she acts as the main cast Siggy on Vikings.
In one of her interviews, she was asked about her workout regimen and here’s what she said: “I like high-intensity workouts — Spinning, boxing, cardio barre. I also run, and I have a Spin bike at my house. I find these exercises more meditative too. I think it’s important to get healthy, but I like the high-intensity workouts where you can’t allow yourself to think about what needs to be done and conversations that you coulda, shoulda, woulda had. I really try to find something that’s like a little vacation from my brain.”
When it comes to diet, she explained, “I basically don’t buy prepared food. My mother was a really good cook, and somehow she drove it into my head that you never really know what’s in the food you’re eating unless you take it from its most original form and prepare it yourself. I don’t buy prepared food or processed food, and we eat a lot of salads and beans. I cook a protein once a week.” Well, this actress really has a great sense when it comes to being healthy.
