Winifred Jacqueline Fraser Bisset, born on September 13, 1944 in Weybridge, Surrey, England, is a British actress. She is the daughter of Arlette Alexander and Max Fraser Bisset. Her acting career started in the year 1965 when she was hired to play an extra role for the British comedy film The Knack … and How to Get It. A year after, she appeared on the psychological thriller Cul-de-sac. She had numerous screen appearances afterwards, including on the 1978 film Who Is Killing the Great Chefs of Europe? by which she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. In 1984, she was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Motion Picture when she played a significant role on Under the Volcano. This year, she appeared on the film Welcome to New York, playing the role Simone.
In one of her interviews, Jacqueline shared about how she ages well. She said, “I don’t know if there is any secret. I think you’ve got to try to have an intelligent life from the beginning. You have to base your life on things other than just your looks, and be interested in people more than just as outer beings. That’s the key. Otherwise you’re going to get a terrible shock. If you don’t have anything inside you, you’re going to be pretty sad. And you can fiddle around with plastic surgery up to a point, but it’s not going to make you look young, you’re just going to look different. You’ve got to build interior content.”
Now we learn something. It’s not that bad to get old, anyway, because the important thing is to age gracefully and smartly.
