Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo García de Estefan, better known as Gloria Estefan, was born on September 1, 1957 in Havana, Cuba. She is the daughter of the bodyguard Jose Fajardo and kindergarten teacher Gloria. She learned how to play guitar and sing at a very early age. Several years after her family migrated to Miami, she eventually attended school at the University of Miami with a B.A. of psychology and a French minor. In 1975, she had an opportunity to sing at a Cuban wedding by which she was accompanied by a band called the Miami Latin Boys. Few weeks later, she was signed to sing with the band. When she fell in love with the band’s leader Emilio Estefan, they married in the year in 1978. Nowadays, she is very well known for her timeless, beautiful songs such as Turn the Beat Around, Here We Are, Reach, and many other songs.
At 56, Gloria still looks ageless, beautiful, and apparently in good shape. That’s because her health is very important to her. According to the renowned singer, “My biggest motivation to keep fit is the bones behind me. If I do not work out, I began to feel that. I like to look and feel good, and if you get older you will feel it, the more important it is to be implemented.” Some of her workout routines are Yoga, playing tennis, and Pilates.
When it comes to diet, Gloria does not follow any particular one. However, she always reminds herself to consume foods that are healthy. She tries hard to really have a balanced diet. “I eat healthy food,” she stated. “But I’m not fanatical about diet menu to any diet. If I eat more than usual because I’m celebrating or have simply ‘want’ then I am somewhat more cautious for a couple of weeks.”
