Gillian Leigh Anderson, born August 9, 1968 in Chicago, Illinois, is a well-known American actress who is the daughter of Rosemary Anderson and Edward Anderson. When she was 22, she moved to New York to find her career while working as a waitress at the same time. Her first acting career was in Alan Ayckbourn’s play Absent Friends which was held at the Manhattan Theatre Club. Eventually, she landed a role in 1992 and played April Cavanaugh in the American drama film The Turning. She later on appeared for a guest role in Class of ’96 wherein she was able to work along with Jason Gedrick and Lisa Dean Ryan. In 1993, she got her big break when she was cast as Dana Scully in The X-Files. She also made a significant appearance in Hollywood Squares as well as in films How to Lose Friends & Alienate People, Boogie Woogie, and Shadow Dancer. Currently she’s filming the upcoming science fiction film Our Robot Overlords.
