Gerard James Butler, simply known as Gerard Butler, is a Scottish actor born on November 13, 1969 in Renfrewshire, Scotland to parents Margaret and Edward Butler. Before he became an actor, Gerard stayed in London and worked for serveal odd jobs until he was cast in a stage production Coriolanus. He was one of the casts of the stage adaptation Trainspotting, afterwhich he became more interested in acting and decided to really concentrate on it. He of course, he started with small roles until he eventually got big ones. Nowadays, he’s already a well-known, A-lister actor with a bunch of nominations and awards. One of his prominent role appearances was in 300 when he was cast as King Leonidas, King of Sparta.
And of course, having a kind of role that requires him to build muscles and lean built is a bit of responsibility for this celebrated actor. How, by the way, did he come up with such amazing physique? Well, according to Gerard, “I wanted to look really strong. I’ve seen so many actors play these kinds of roles, and you see all this equipment on either a big belly or skinny little arms.” He says he did spend 4 months in the gym, working his body and transforming it into a warrior type. Push press and Burpee pull up are his usual workout routine while he also does chinups and sled pulls. More importantly, he says he had an intensive weight training and weapon training.
When it comes to diet, the actor shares that he was encouraged to eat at least every two to three hours to boost his metabolism. He particularly consumed brown rice, whole grain, and multigrain pasta.
