Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas, better known as Gabby Douglas, is an American artistic gymnast. She was born on December 31, 1995 in Virginia Beach, Virginia to parents Nathalie Hawkins and Timothy Douglas. At four, she started to learn how to do gymnastics and particularly went to gymnastics classes. In 2004, she competed for the Virginia State Championships and was able to bag the Level 4 all-around gymnastics title.
Her national debut happened in 2008 when she joined the US Classic which was held in Houston, Texas. The said competition earned her the 10th place overall ranking. In 2010, she made it to the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup which happened in Worcester, Massachusetts. She was able to bring home the fourth place on the said competition. In December 2013, she was named by the Associated Press the Female Athlete of the Year.
Gabby stays active in order to maintain a healthy body. And of course, she always keeps an eye on whatever she eats. “When I’m on the go-go-go, and there’s a lot of fast-food restaurants, it’s hard, but what’s very handy for me is that I carry a healthy snack in my bag and when I get hungry I just snack on that. I love Kellogg’s Crisp or snap peas, or Yopa! just came out with a new Greek yogurt that’s really portable. Whatever healthy stuff you like, just bring those on the road with you. I like Yopa! because you never get bored with it– it comes in a bunch of flavors, and then you can throw the granola into it,” she expressed.
