Erika Heynatz - CelebHealthy_comErika Heynatz is an Australian model, actress, singer and TV personality. She was born on March 25, 1976 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. She is known to be the host of the Foxtel reality TV show Australia’s Next Top Model during the first two cycles. She also hosted the TV show The Hot House. Apart from being a host, she also appears in a number of TV programs and even films, including the 2003 TV film Mermaids.

During Erika’s interview with InStyle Magazine, she shared her workout secrets. She said, “My exercise routines have always been influenced by the people around me. I’ve been inspired by personal trainers and teachers and one of my girlfriends enters body-sculpting competitions so she passes on fitness tricks and new trends. I exercise every day—everything from yoga to interval training, weight circuits, skipping drills and ocean swimming. But whatever my workout, I try to finish with 20 minutes of meditation. With stage work, I need a lot of energy to get me through so I always exercise in the morning—it’s my way of setting myself up for the day. I always feel great after working out; it’s when I feel my best. As soon as I’ve done it, I feel completely present and connected. It’s like I’m rewarding myself and thanking my body for being the vehicle that gets me through my day.”

As for her diet, she said, “I wake up dehydrated so I start with a glass of warm water and lemon. It’s hydrating and it feels like it stimulates my digestive system. Pre-workout, I’ll have a black coffee for a caffeine hit. Post-workout, I have a protein shake to refuel and then a bowl of wholegrain oats and a large vegetable juice, which keeps me full and energised for most of the morning. I do have a big appetite so I snack on protein bars, almonds and apples and drink green tea. At lunch and dinner, I opt for protein over carbs so it’s fish and chicken with vegetables or salad. If I eat too late at night, I don’t sleep very well so I try to have dinner around 7pm. I save alcohol for weekends but I do treat myself nightly to a Killer Python lolly or some dark chocolate.”
