In 2008, she revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006. She decided to keep her treatment secret within that span of time because she doesn’t want paparazzi flooding at the hospital. Nonetheless, she later realized how she can be an inspiration to others who are also undergoing the same situation as her and decided to announce her battle with the disease. She became a breast cancer activist and an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the cure, which is the best-funded breast cancer organization in the United States.
Part of her exercise regimen is Gyrotronics. It is a combination of several workouts, including yoga, tai chi, ballet, and gymnastics, to which Cynthia credits her remarkably slim figure.
After surviving the battle with cancer, she keeps her body healthy and strong by eating vegetables with an added twist. She has her own Cynthia Nixon Tomato Surprise, where tomatoes are dipped in vodka and added with salt before it is eaten. She also eats sushi several times a week.
