American actress Courtney Thorne-Smith was born on November 8, 1967 in San Francisco, California to parents Lora and Walter Smith. She grew up in Menlo Park, San Francisco and attended school at Menlo-Atherton High School in California. She then proceeded to Tamalpais High School where she graduated in 1965. While she was in high school, she used to participate in school plays and particularly joined the Ensemble Theater Company in Mill Valley. Deciding to pursue acting, she experienced her first screen appearance in the year 1986 where she played the role Lindsey in the coming of age drama film Welcome to 18. The same year, she had another role which was in the tragicomedy film Lucas. After series of role appearances, she became a highly-recommended actress, portraying different roles in a number of films and TV series, making her name prominent in the film and TV industry.
So what is her workout all about? “Well, I used to be a compulsive exerciser,” Courtney said in one of her interviews. “But I’m over that. For the past several years, I’ve been walking 40 minutes and doing Pilates and yoga stretches at home, so that’s what I’m doing now. I used to run 8 miles a day, then go to the gym, do weights and then yoga, until I realized that I was so hungry and tired all the time. So I stopped doing all that and started just walking. I feel so much freedom now: I don’t have to stay in a hotel with a gym and I’m never so hungry that I panic.”
When it comes to diet, she has been practicing low-carbs for about twelve years already. She explained, “I found that it’s been a great way to eat that I’ve been able to stick with for a very long time. I know what to eat; I know how to go through my day. And I don’t have to think about food anymore—except for how much I’m going to enjoy my next meal.”
