Brendan Brazier - CelebHealthy_comBorn on March 1, 1975 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Brendan Brazier is a Canadian endurance athlete and author. In 2003, he became the Canadian 50k champion. It was followed by another success in 2006 where he again won and became the Canadian 50k champion. One of the notable things about him is that he’s a huge fan of vegetarian diet which led him to become an advocate of it. He even created the Vega line of food products and supplements and became remarkable for such initiative. He also wrote several books relating to healthy diet including The Thrive Diet, Thrive Fitness, and Thrive Foods: 200 Plant-Based Recipes for Peak Health.

Now when it comes to keeping his body fit and strong, Brendan shared in an interview that he mostly spends time biking and running. He said, “I just really like getting out for long runs or bike rides. There are great hills where I live in the mountains and it’s just amazing cycling. I started doing this just because I like it, so I never had to push myself into training. It’s always just been something I wanted to do, so I guess that makes it easy.”

For his diet, he said, “I was never trying to become a vegetarian or a vegan I just wanted to be a great athlete, so I was going to do whatever it took,” explained Brendan. “A properly put-together plant-based diet is based on whole foods, nutrient-dense foods, and high net gain nutrition. Eating plant-based can really help speed recovery and that can allow you to train more and reduce inflammation, which makes your muscles more efficient. It can also reduce the energy it takes to digest food so you have more of it.”
